Congratulations

BRCC extend their congratulations to their prize-winning playing members.

In the promotion-winning first team, captain Nick Smith is the proud owner of the Division C Bowling trophy, after taking an astonishing 68 wickets at an average of only 12.57. It is genuinely amazing to see someone who bowls at 'Smudger's' pace manage to stop the ball from bouncing twice. He is no stranger to this award, having also won it in 2009.

Nick is joined in the Division C prize-winning stakes by Charlie Swallow, who had a bumper year as the team's leading run-getter. Outstanding consistency saw him claim 934 runs at 71.85, with a top score of 94* against Horsforth, which means he played the whole season without recording a century. Bottler.

In the juniors, Ben Rhydding players also grabbed both of the big awards. First teamers Robbie Miller and Robbie Oldham secured the bowling and batting prizes respectively for under17s league. Miller was perhaps a surprise winner, having not been regarded as a bowling talent since he gave up leg-break three years ago. He said "You see, Im not that rubbish. It took bowler-friendly wickets and astute captaincy for get me this prize, who had the foresight to bring me on to clear up many a tail." The captain in question was Miller himself.
